Used to be a local legend around here. My uncle was obsessed with it when I was a kid. Grim Bill was what they called the guy who used to dump bodies in Bachelor’s Grove for Al Capone.”
“Yeah, that’s right. I remember that When In Doubt Go To The Library T shirt,” Cath added. This was all new to me, except for Bachelor’s Grove. A small cemetery located in the depths of a Southside Forest Preserve with the same name, the site was considered one of the ‘most haunted’ areas in the U.S. The cemetery dated back to the 1800s, when the area was nothing but forest. Today it sat at the end of a hearty hike into the woods, parallel to Midlothian Turnpike in the township of Oak Forest. A swampy bog stood between the fenced-in graves and the closest point of the road, and it was in that bog that legend says Al Capone used to dump his enemies. Rob and his fucked up girlfriend used to try to get us to go there sometimes. He said they did things out there. Like, rituals or something.
“I don’t remember ever hearing about Capone having one particular hatchet man before.”
“What does this have to do with what you saw? Or what happened to Larry?”
“I’m not sure yet, but I think Grim Bill is… I think he’s here, like in our house. Or garage. I don’t know. Like he’s attached to it somehow. And after Larry looked through the window, I think he might have gotten attached to him, too.”
